Hello All,I just came back from a 8 day visit with family in St.Louis.I have been watching the site but I hate to type on my i-phone.Just an update on my 5 SBRT treatments that ended 5/14.
Urinary issues : have to get up once during the nite.Sometimes an urgency to P,but not bad.No burning,no blood, good flow.Normal urination.Sometimes when starting to P I feel like there is a pressure on my rectum to crap but I dont.Geez
Rectal :mild discomfort during bowel movement.Stool is normal but feels like the job is not complete when I think Im done.Feels like a cork is stuck.Like the lenz is wide
open.I do not push, just sit and relax and a lot of times just gas comes out.I have blood on toilet paper and sometimes a few drops of blood in the water. This is called "tenesmus".That feeling is from inflammation in your rectum (proctitis),not from actual stool there.I had a hemmroid so some or all blood from that maybe?
Sexual : Sperm is limited.Orgasms are normal.I have been taking Viagra (50 mg ) daily since 3 days before my first treatment.I discussed this with my RO and URO and they both agree it OK to be taken.Sort of like use it or loose it my Uro said.No side effects from viagra.
Thanks again to Tall Allen for his " What to expect after prostate radiation" hand out that he gives to his groups before they have radiation. I showed my RO this handout and I told her that this will be my study guide during my post radiation. So there is no freaking out when these side effects happen. She agreed.
I feel pretty good,no fatigue. Not working out yet. But very, very active.Been away from the Mrs. for 8 days so I have to catch up on some private time. Results to follow.Not.

Glad it's been going okay. I had HDR brachy, not SBRT, and several years later I don't really have increased urgency, but what's different is that when I have the urge to go, I really need to go. I can't ignore the feeling like I used to. It's pretty minor, but I've noticed other guys saying similar things.
Good luck on your continued recovery, although it sounds like you don't have all that much to recover from...

Good update! It's good for others to read about
what they can expect.
No reason to avoid workouts. I hope you enjoy your reunion with Mrs. 0311.

I finished mine 3/4 (five treatments in five days because of out-of-town treatment), 0311. I've had a few nights when I had to get up more than once, and some squirts. I also had some fatigue, but I've been pushing hard with little sleep and lots of stress for months. My flatulence hurts and is indistinguishable from the need to defecate; "don't trust a fart" has become very valuable advice. No Viagra (Chris King was not real enthusiastic about
that) but no issues at all there. Side effects seem--knock on wood (no pun intended)--to be attenuating a bit in the last few days, which is on track with what I was told to expect... I'm also deeply grateful to Tall Allen for his guidance and work, and I'm feeling good about
the SBRT choice. Semper fi, 0311.

JockMT,hello, yes the gas coming out while on the throne tends to be a little pain in the ass.I always slept thru the night so getting up once isnt a big deal except at 4am I just lay there toss and turn and maybe go back to sleep an hour later for about
2 hrs.My Wife picked up some TUCKS for me that I use after the toilet paper. She also picked up DESITIN that I use for a final night cap applying it liberally to the tush. After having 5 kids she knows a few tricks. You went to one of the best,Dr.King, whom I had a free phone consul and he really took his time with me.Also very grateful for the HW forum for getting me where I am now.And again thanks to His Tallness for taking time out of his busy day, always ,to help us all.SemperFi,Jock

0311, glad to hear things are going pretty much as expected. That's always good. Hope the inflammation clears up real soon.
I go for CK Round 2 in the am. So far no issues, maybe a little fatigue, but that's about
to change with the 3 rounds every other day next week.
Do you have a link to Allen's radiation survival blog. I thought I had it, but can't find it.

dcd55,no I dont have a link but just ask Tall Allen .E-mail him and he will respond. Its a great little full page of possible SEs.I made copies for myself and have one in my bathroom to read.More for my Wife to read.As I just came back home after 8 days my Wife was unaware of the bleeding from the rectum. She was like WHAT,then I showered her the handout sheet and its spelled out.I quoted Tall Allen about
the tenesmus, proctitus, that I am experienceing. The RO did mention some urinal, rectal ed issues, but its always nice to see first hand something in writting.Along with the sticky that Tall Allen has made in regards to questions for Drs.when considering Surgery or Radiation..And I have used them to ask Surgeons and ROs.Hang in there ,you will be fine. The first week after was like R&R for me .Totally relieved, head in a cloud.Feeling great.Your almost there.SemperFi

Guys, for those of us who are on board a later SBRT train, it's so helpful to hear what's further up the tracks. I've completed four weeks of Lupron and Casodex, and my UCLA ct scan is scheduled for April 7th. Then on to the fiducials, and treatments with Dr King. My only SE has just started up the past couple of nights -- four or so mild hot flashes while in bed. Feeling lucky especially when mindful of so many others here and their challenges. Onward and upward.

Having the 3 fiducials placed, while bearable, was much worse than the actual SBRT which was uneventful for me. The first 2 fiducials were painless but that third one gave me an opportunity to practice my cursing. Getting the 3 mini tattoos was also a non event.
I also am a patient of Dr Chris King at UCLA for RO amd Dr. Jeffrey Turner an associate of doctors Mark Scholz and Richard Lam in Marina del Rey CA for Medical oncologist.

No - just click on the link I posted - it should
open up a new window in your browser at that website automatically.
Oh -- do you mean you want to post a url in a post of your own? Then you click the url button, enter the web address, and click the url button a second time.

Nomar Lupron, same here--getting the fiducials placed got my attention. The upside, however, is that I could then tell people I am no literally The Man With the Golden Gun. It's not just in my head anymore.
