Hyperthermia is rarely used in the US, I'm finding out. I had it done via the perineum in 2009 as part of HDR brachy. The sensation is like mild continuous electric shock for 35 minutes. Not pleasant but I was able to cope with it in a strange way. The therapy worked as far as the prostate goes, but could do nothing for distant micro mets.
