Doctor's Odd Request

I saw a peyronies specialist last week and got an odd request. He asked if I happened to have any digital photos of my member, pre and/or post surgery, at attention and not. He said it's a good non-invasive way to track the progression of the disease.

He believes about 15% of white males that undergo RALP will develop some degree of peyronies. Interestingly, due to a genetic component, other ethnicities have a far less or zero incident rate from surgery. This is just based on his practice and experience, not proven via study.

While it's somewhat too late for me, it might be worth a photo or two if you are headed for surgery. It would also help to answer the shortening and atrophy questions.

DH would probably rather be dead than have a photo taken of his member. Before RP and ensuing peyronies I thought I liked his extreme modesty. sigh.....

Funny that some have no problem posting these sort of pics, even on online dating sites. I avoid even pics of my face on facebook...
I guess it doesn't hurt to ask if you are a doc. I understand the request from a scientific perspective.

I think it just struck me as odd because I had never heard of it and have never been asked that. As you point out, makes sense after you think about it. Right now I wish I had those pre-surgery photos for comparison.

The peyronies specialist checked me for scarring / plaque build up and then offered to inject me but doesn't normally do that if you are less than 30%, it's not causing pain or any major issues. He had to go on my description of the extent of the curvature. A picture would have been worth those thousand words.

If you are pre-surgery a handful of photos might be really useful down the road. Just don't post them here or accidentally send them in a text to your children.

I was seen by Dr. John Mulhall for Peyronies. (I have significant plaque build-up, but it is almost 100% symmetrical so essentially no curvature -- and therefore no treatment needed -- though I did lose 1" of erect size due to the plaque.)

I didn't have any pre-RALP pics of my member, but even without being asked I brought Dr. Mulhall a pic of my post-RALP member at-attention. I wanted him to see the subtle effects of Peyronie's on my erection without having to inject for him to see it for himself.
