RARP 4/20, discharged 4/21 – catheter to be removed 4/27 – per surgeon all went very well – asked if he saw anything suspicious – he replied no. Pathology report not yet finalized -

Bobby, congrats on getting it behind you. The day you get the catheter out is a day that you will remember and it will live in your heart forever.
As has already been suggested, walk as much as possible, drink lots of water (no need to get up and pee, how great is that). And take a lot of Dulcolex, or whatever stool softener you use.
Best wishes for a quick recovery, and a really good path report.

Congrats on being done. Take it a day at a time, listen to your body. Once the catheter comes out, it goes much better. You got this. :-)

Bobby Mac, as others have said:

Walk as much as you can, get out of the chair at least hourly. If you feel up to it, go up to Home Depot or something with your leg bag on and push a cart around the store for a while.

Keep pouring in the fluids. Water especially. Yeah, you'll dump the bag a lot, but it will keep things flushed out.

Take your stool softeners and your metamucil. That, and the water, will help things get regular again.

It gets better every day.

Glad it went ok, take care of the catheter by keeping it clean and lubed. Walk around and get rest as needed

A few more days till the catheter comes out, that will be a great day

Yesterday, two days post RALP and one day post hospital discharge, passed some gas, which was a welcome relief. Today passed some of the real McCoy - not all solid, but looks like that end of the recovery is well on its way.

I had my da Vinci 1/29 and like everyone on here says walk drink rest and repeat. Once the cath comes out you will start the process of the "new normal". Remember to be patient with the urine control. There will be good days and bad days. Just this week I was finally able to ditch the heavier depends pad and go to a shield. I don't really think i need the shield either but I am not confident enough to go without just yet. Go on the depends and tena website they will send you samples. Figure out what's most comfortable for you. I liked the tena brand the best but they are pretty spendy and I have to mail order it. And remember your kegals. For me on concentrated on getting the urine under control now my focus is going to switch to ED. Here is wishing you a great path report and remember to ask any question you might have. Chances are pretty good someone on this board has been through it.

Bobby Mac, Sounds like your RALP went well. Mine was done 3/21 and don't think it could have went any better. Word of advice, if you are now on solid foods, take the lax and softner. After liquid diet and liquid movements, the solid food was a challenge. I am finding pee control to be improving overall, though as Dr. said, good days and bad. Even signs of life in other important regions. Not bad after 5 weeks. Best wishes to you!

Getting through the initial incontinence is tough, for me mainly when getting out of a chair. My catheter was removed a week ago. Certainly delays getting back to normal daily routines. In other respects I feel good.

Catheter taken out today - leaking, but feels soooooo much better :)

Krg75 if I may ask you a question. Your PSA score of 2.61 seems very low for a diagnosis of PCa. My husband had a score of 3.6 and everyone here seems to worry that he is what they termed a non-secretor meaning that his cancer doesn't secrete like "normal" cancer does so he will be difficult to follow once they remove his prostate. Did any of your doctors ever voice concern over your score being so low? Just trying to wrap my mind around all of these low PSA scores I see and yet no one seems concerned about them except my husband's doctors.
