My urologist told me that at 6 months post RALP I would know about how incontinent I would be. At 6 months I got a referral to a pelvic floor specialist and did 3 months or so of the exercises. I saw little improvement. When I met with the urologist for my 1 year checkup we talked about sling vs. AUS. Since I leak quite a bit, 4-5 pads per day, and I am a runner, she suggested the AUS. She mentioned that for distance runners they recommend against the sling. Something about the back and forth motion possible abrading things inside. I run 25-30 miles per week and will run a half marathon in Pittsburgh on May 5th. I get the AUS installed on May 16.
BTW, since I most always have a wet pad to some degree, I no longer eat asparagus. The smell follows me around. Anyone else notice that? After the AUS I plan to binge eat some.
DanchW, yes, regarding orgasms. They tell us that post surgery we have "dry orgasm" but that hasn't been the case for me. And it's really been a turn off all around.
