Just had my latest PSA(.76) test results and one more left for my 5 year schedule and I thought I would post a new topic.

Has anyone here ever participated in a Clinical Trias for Prostate Cancer?

I am part of a clinical trial. Having failed RP, I was scheduled for salvage radiation. Preparing for that, I was identified as a candidate for a clinical trial involving randomized ADT concurrent to radiation and the extent of radiation. The study had three arms:

1) prostate bed radiation only
2) prostate bed and additional general pelvic radiation
3) prostate bed and additional general pelvic radiation and concurrent 6 month ADT

I wound up in the third arm. I will find out my next statistics in a couple of days.
The study will monitor me for the rest of my life. (blood work, questionnaires)

Clinical Trials for PC exist for all PC risk-levels...low-, intermediate- and high-risk.

Insurance/medicare pays the cost of treatment. The cost of administrating the trial - comes from elsewhere. My contribution is showing up for the periodic blood draw.

I was involved in a clinical study for TFT eight years ago. The results were a 100% success and since I have remained the most successfully treated man on this site.

My treatment (and current follow-up tests) was a clinical trial at NIH in Maryland. It was their Enzalutamide trial which followed with surgery. Very pleased to have participated.

Along the way I was in other separate trials there. Some of the trials had to do with taking extra blood, giving them full ownership of my prostate after its removal and giving them ownership of my biopsy samples from before NIH and the ones from NIH. I was agreeable to any trial at that point just to be a part of their research. Something good to come from this bad...Jim

I was in the punch clinical trial at City of Hope 7 years ago. It was a combination of ADT and chemo than a prosectomy. I am a Gleason 9 4+5. Although the trial failed as far as my situation was concerned my doctor Dr. Lam feels it is part of the reason I am doing so well right now.
