After Casodex and Estradiol (with constant 3-month Zoladex) failed, I had a PSA test result of 118 on April 20th. Was able to skip chemo and started Zytiga-Prednisone on April 29th. Tested PSA on May 23rd, and visited the doctor yesterday (24th). He walked in the exam room door and said "Congratulations, Your PSA is down to 5."
Needless to say , My wife and I are very happy!

Hello IDGUY,
I'm VERY encouraged by your news about
ZYTIGA --- it's having a tremendous impact on your PSA numbers already.
I'm in the "ZYTIGA ZONE" right now, as well --- I have been on continuous ADT shots since my diagnosis, followed by a series of Taxotere chemotherapy treatments --- shortly after finishing up chemo treatments, then I started on ZYTIGA ---
To add to your testimonial, once I started on ZYTIGA, it managed to knock my PSA down to the lowest point I had ever experienced to date --- in my case, I believe the chemo treatments helped knock out some resistant cancer cells, which then paved the way for ZYTIGA after that ...
I am a school teacher --- here's how my experience has gone --- I started on ZYTIGA late last summer, just as I was getting ready for a new school year --- ZYTIGA has now carried me through an entire school year, helping to keep my PSA down in the low decimal range this entire school year --- so, I am thankful for the emergence of new breakthrough medications like ZYTIGA.
Glad to hear you are seeing such a powerful impact from ZYTIGA --- please keep us posted --- it's valuable to hear how these newer breakthrough medications are impacting the lives of the fellows here on this forum !
All my best, from across the miles,

Thanks for the responses. I wonder... if a guy goes to "zero" for any length of time on ADT/ Zytiga if it's safe to take a treatment "vacation"?

Idguy,
That is wonderful news. I would think it is the zytiga at work and many have kept the numbers low for some time while taking it. I would think a vacation would not be advisable because if your PSA rebounds the zytiga might not be effective second time around.

Back in the "ZER0" club after 6 years! Had my 3 month check after starting Zytiga last April. Result..0.11!!
This is down from 118 on April 20, 2016 and 5 on May 20rd. Feeling pretty good today! I didn't even mind getting the Zoladex injection today.

idguy,
That is great news, and I predicted that that for you!! Keep those numbers low, hopefully you'll have mimimal side effects. The only one I notice after 23 months on Zytiga is fatigue.
Keep the faith Brother

idguy,
That's GREAT!
I did the same on Zytiga (0 PSA after about
3 months), but it nailed my liver, so had to stop. Fewer side effects and cheaper than Xtandi, which I'm on now.

Hello IDGUY,
Tremendous update from you ! TREMENDOUS RESULTS from your treatments !
We've got some common threads in our treatment stories ... initial PSA over 100 at diagnosis ... both of us on ZOLADEX shots currently ... and both of us on ZYTIGA medication currently ...
I started on ZYTIGA just a year ago now ... I did a series of chemotherapy treatments and then added ZYTIGA after those were over ...
IDGUY ... I'm really ENCOURAGED by the results you are having from your treatments ... it means a lot to me to see the SUCCESS you are experiencing.
Keep in touch --- keep posting --- stay determined --- and keep living life to the fullest !

PSA UNDECTECTABLE!!! For the first time since I was diagnosed 11 years ago I had a "undetectable" PSA.
Doc even suggested a vacation from Zoladex. (Hope I get a bit of my memory back). Will get tested again in 2 months rather than the usual 3.
