David,
First, I recommend you send your biopsy slides to Bostwick or Epstein for a second opinion. (the links are in the sticky for the newly diagnosed). A man in one of my support groups was just downgraded by Epstein from 4+3 to 3+3, completely changing his treatment options.
You can talk to different radiation oncologists specializing in different kinds of radiation treatments to get it done in a shorter time span, and perhaps with better results. Where in Florida are you?
Here are a list of side effects you can expect with IMRT and with surgery:
Understanding the range of risks associated with prostate cancer surgery todayAdverse events of primary, intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)Other kinds of radiation, like SBRT, HDR and LDR brachytherapy, and protons will have their own side effect profiles. The ADT you're taking will add side effects of its own.
You have to talk to a specialist in each specialty to learn about
it. You can't expect a urologist, for example, to know much about
any kind of radiation -- it's not what he does.
