Yes, 0311 is right, most of the states do provide some form of property tax exemption for disabled veterans. It does vary some by state, and even specific jurisdictions within states may offer particular benefits, but some kind of benefit is generally available to all U.S. disabled veterans.

I think California offers a partial exemption, but with our housing prices so high most on a disability income can't afford to live here.

Florida has the Property Tax benefit for 100% Permanent and Total disabled vets as well. I pay absolutely zereo taxes. That also passes along to the spouse if you die first. In addition they have a program for less than 100%ers that reduces the taxes on a corresponding basis.

I am also eligible for free lifetime hunting and fishing licenses as well as one automobile tag per year.

The only problem with the auto tag is that it is a "DAV" tag. Many of the forums for vets suggest that you don't take advantage of this benefit. The reasoning is that the ner'do wells target the houses with these tags thinking that there will be drugs on the premises. So I choose not to take the state up on this benefit. I would rather not have to shoot someone for breaking into my house.
