It lowers your BP, but that SE lessens the longer you stays on it (your body adapts). The first few days are the worst - you have to get up slowly after laying down (e.g., getting up to pee at night). If you still get dizzy after a week, you might talk to your doctor about using a more specific alpha blocker (Like Works Out, I found Rapaflo worked better for me), or try Cialis (it works well for urinary symptoms but can also lower BP).
I was a triathlete as well and have low heart rate and BP. It's a good thing - the heart pumps more powerfully so you get good circulation with less effort from the heart. Just let your doctors know in advance that you're an athlete.
