In a current thread ("A Suggestion for Todd…"), Purgatory gives us a fascinating account of the possibly ghostly goings-on in a house he once owned, a house with apparently some spooky history to it.
(BTW, David, your account sounds much like the lines you might have written in one of your chilling novels!)
So, as a bit of a diversion, maybe it would be a little fun to ask if some of you are familiar with a supposedly haunted house that has become notorious in your area?
(Granted this is about
as off-topic as one can get for our PCa-based forum here, and a thread much more suited for Halloween, I suppose, but what the heck?)
Reading Purg's account immediately reminded me of the Herlong Mansion, a stately Southern Gothic-revival style home about
15 miles south of my town, Gainesville, here in Florida.
It has developed a reputation in recent decades as the dwelling place of the departed spirit of a woman who died in the place, and was seemingly unwilling to leave it.
A "ghostly account" of the mysterious Herlong Mansion, including photos of the place:
www.hauntedhouses.com/states/fl/herlong_mansion.htmAll of this should be taken in good fun, of course. But, are haunted houses for real? Are they truly the abodes of unhappy spirits, unfortunately trapped between worlds for some disturbing reason?
Who knows? But as we sit here around the cyber campfire, so to speak, maybe one of you too would like to add to the fun, and tell us about
a mysterious, possibly haunted house in your neck of the woods!
(And, FWIW, I have never visited the above-described Herlong Mansion, so I cannot confirm or deny, personally speaking of course, the presence of a "ghost"!)
