And who can forget the famous response by the brigadier general commanding the 101st airborne during the battle of the bulge when the German command demanded his surrender?
NUTS!

Yikes, thanks for posting,
The researchers, experts at Harvard Medical School in Boston, studied 47,000 men over 26 years and identified 6,800 who had developed prostate cancer.
...
they found that "patients who consumed nuts five or more times per week after diagnosis had a significant 34 per cent lower rate of overall mortality than those who consumed nuts less than once per month."
They added: "This suggests nuts, although not associated with being diagnosed with cancer, may still improve the overall survival of patients."

Love those Brazil nuts. I also take a selenium supplement daily.
"Brazil nuts are known to contain high quantities of 'selenium', a mineral with anti-cancer properties that protects cells and tissue from damaging molecules. "

The media, as often happens, got this completely wrong. In fact, the study did not at all show what the Daily Telegraph reported:
Nuts to the Daily Telegraph … and nuts for most of our readers!

Faustmann - careful with that selenium! The SELECT study found that high levels of selenium in conjunction with Vitamin E can
cause
prostate cancer.

I love eating nuts - especially almond butter (yum!)
But isn't eating more grains and less carbohydrates contradictory?

Works Out-
I think he meant whole grains vs refined carbohydrates. Similarly, Mike is talking about
nuts and fish as preferred sources of fat than from red meat or butterfat (although being religious about
it is unnecessary). I would have had added to the list green leafy vegetables (especially cruciferous veggies) and highly colored fruits and veggies. Variety is important too - we evolved to be omnivores.
For guys like you and I who have already had curative therapy, I don't see any point to dietary changes, other than for cardiovascular health.

TA,

Interesting. I've had curative treatment, RP, and I still try to follow all of the dietary recommendations for PCa. Since we know that PCa can recur, even 20 years after treatment, that must mean that some dormant cells are left in the body. Wouldn't it make sense that diet would affect how, and whether, those cells ever result in recurrent PCa?

Frack Me,
Since all available evidence tells me I'm cured, I see no purpose in pursuing
any
treatment, dietary or otherwise, for a disease I don't have. This is especially true for those dietary studies that deal with prevention of prostate cancer - I've had it -- whatever caused it to happen probably took a lifetime of combined effects to cause it, and there is no point in closing the barn door after the horses are out. If I had evidence of residual disease, I might think differently. And if there is some residual disease lurking somewhere, I'll deal with it if it ever rears its ugly head, based on evidence.
However, I am much more concerned about
cardiovascular disease, and there is some credible evidence that dietary changes can reverse it even at this late date. I eat heart-healthy anyway and have for many years, exercise regularly, have no excess bodyfat, so I've got those bases covered.
