Post Prostatectomy Penis Pain

I underwent open prostatectomy on February 8th.  Following surgery, my scrotum swelled to the size of an orange.  Eventually, the swelling went down, but I continue to have groin pain.  Last Wednesday, I developed a new painful sensation in my penis that seems to be exacerbated by getting in and out of a chair or bending over.  I guess you could best describe the pain as a stinging sensation.  I decided to visit the local VA Hospital for blood labs and a urine check.  I don't have the results of those tests, but the emergency room doc prescribed doxycycline 100 mg, and I've been taking it since last Thursday with no improvement in  penis pain.  I'm beginning to wonder if stretching of the urethra is causing the problem, and maybe getting in and out of a chair or bending over is actually stretching a taut urethra to some degree.  Funny that this pain would develop over 3 weeks out of surgery.  I have a strong stream, no fever, no discharge, etc.   Anybody else experience penile pain after surgery? 

I'm having a similar problem. I'm 7 weeks post RP. I'm still getting perineum pain when sitting for a while. I will also occasional get a sharp pain on either side of the base of the penis. At the same time my penis stiffens a bit and gets rigid but does not really grow in length. The pain will subside after a few minutes. It is not excruciating but any pain there freaks me out. It almost feels like it might be radiating from somewhere in side me, if you get what I mean. I asked my doc about this and he says that along with the perineum pain this is common and will eventually go away.

I have searched the internet but it does not look like this is very common. I would feel a whole lot better if I knew some others guys ran into this and could assure me it will eventually go away. I have also tried having an erection but nothing. The doc says its too early, the nerves need more time to heal.

56, PSA was 6 prior to surgery, Gleason 7 (3+4) prior to surgery, 7 (4+3) post surgery pathology. Good surgical margins and last PSA test was undetectable. Still incontinent but it does seem to be getting better.

I don't know if the pain you're experiencing is similar to the pain I wrote about on March 7th, but my pain has left me. It wasn't an infection, just residuals of surgery. I'm doing fine now, and I'm back to riding my bicycle daily.

Penile pain is part of the pkg of RRP, I am 5 mos post op and still have a tinge of pain, when doing #1. Earlier I would occasionally get the sharp shooting pain out of nowwhere. If you are still concerned talk to your surgeon, or uroligist. My surgeon explained it this way," post op its a mess in there, and the pain has to go somewhere".

I had open RP 5 weeks ago and have occasional perineum pain. Seems more noticed after a day out and about, not so much when resting. I have the same penile pain as marke when it feels like it is hardening but goes away after a half hour or so, usually worse when drinking lots of fluids and frequent urination. Greg

I had my prostate removed last November (robotic) and having some penile discomfort. Feel as though I want to pee all the time and also some pain within the shaft (sometimes dull.........sometimes sharp). Thought it may be a water infection or thrush but nothing works. Seeing my neurologist soon and have a million questions.
