TRIMIX GEL experiences

A few people were asking about how Trimix Gel compares with MUSE.

I have used both now. Also cost for Trimix Gel was around $150 for 6 doses (Oct 2009) -- pretty steep.

First: Trimix was 500/300/1000 mcg mix. I have done 6 doses.

I got the 500mcg alprostadil level instead of 1000 so I would have some leeway in boosting that amount if the 500 did not work well enough (by adding a 500mcg pellet from Muse).

With just Trimix Gel at that formulation I would say that I was able to get 60-80% hardness and was just at the limit of usefulness. There was no Alprostadil ache from the gel, even tho I do get some ache from plain 500mcg muse and about the same hardness I think.

I also tried boosting the gel with a 500mcg pellet. It did not really boost hardness much more but perhaps made it last longer. I think that happens to a lot of guys when they just increase dose, but others do get harder erections too. Also there was some ache with the boosted gel (1000mcg total), but not as much ache as a straight 1000mcg MUSE pellet.

I haven't ordered it again yet since I don't think it was really worth the 30 bucks a pop (or a little more with the MUSE boost). But i suppose i should see how much I can get paid by insurance -- which I neglected to do so far. Might make it more economical if they will pay. But I have Evil Godless Medco for my prescriptions -- so need I say more? (example: 15 crummy 5 mg cialis a month is all they allocate).

So, can't say it is a big improvement over MUSE, but it has promise if the price comes down a bit.

Also I would say to not be afraid to try the 1000/300/100 formulation if your MUSE experience showed you needed 500 or 1000 levels (but you want less ache).

My Uro PA had never heard of Trimix Gel before I mentioned it but she was enthusiastic about me trying it and wanted me to report back if it worked. Have not done so yet since it was not a stunning success. (but i do have 11 more refills if I care to use them).

If anyone has more to add from their trials with the gel, just add them on here. Other questions welcome too.

My Dr. told me that if the MUSE did not work then the Tri-mix would not work. Do you agree with that statement? Heck the MUSE cast $200 my insurance does not pay for eny ED meds.

Thanks for the reply. I might just have to try again with this MUSE. After all I still have 4 left no reason to pitch them yet!

Jim, your report sounds like what I have read on the GEL. I have no first hand experience, but read that the GEL was not very effective, perhaps in the 20% range.

hb: I guess I did not make my post clear to you. The Dr said that if the MUSE did not work then Tri-Mix Gel would probably not work either. I have sence got on the needle Caverject works GREAT. I am lucky at this point hot having the Alpro pain. My only complaint at this point is Caverject os SOOOO Expensive. Insurance does not cover the cost.

New update on Trimix Gel use: Basic Formulation still 1000mcg/300mg/100mg. But I boosted it with a 500 mcg MUSE suppository as well since the last time the regular Gel only only got to around 80%.

With the boost (and no added plumping or rings or anything -- just a 20 mg Levitra -- but I doubt that contributed much since drugs don't do much by themselves),
was able to get a good 100% hard erection after about 10-15 minutes lasting for at least 30 minutes (and maybe workable even after that).

The added alprostadil did tend to ache a bit after an hour --but mostly only if standing up -- but not too bad.

American Pharmacy can be custom blend the gel formula for the same $$$ as the 1000/300/100 version) so I may ask my Uro for such a prescription. I still have one more Gel Shot left so will try again with same MUSE boost just to make sure it is always effective.

So it looks like More is Better for this gel method. And kind of nice that you can modify it on-the-fly if you have MUSE handy.

Talk about walking down memory lane ... and another me from six years ago. Since graduated to Trimix shots for about 4 years now.

That's a good idea to see if Trimix for shots might work as a urethral sploosh. It would have to be a lot of it tho. I still keep lots of MUSE around -- which I dissolve in sterile water to make PGE-1 solution. And I have Bi-Mix as a separate vial so I could make a mix using a very strong PGE-1 solution .. plus some Bi-Mix. Will have to see if that works out.
