The "under the bridge" comment just reminded me of the malaphor (is this yet a real word?) "We'll burn that bridge when we come to it," which was pretty much in everyday use when I was in corporate land, spending way more time in conference rooms than actually doing what needed doing.

I know I started this post, but there are two other sayings I use a lot.
I have a baseball cap that reads "Stage 4, I like a Challenge!". Also, when someone asks me "how I am doing"' I reply "I am trying as hard as I can".

During a Technical training in Boston in the winter of 1973..there were times when about everyone ( 16 total ) would be complaining of something. Afterall there we were (some of us ) thousands of miles away from home & family !

One guy, as I recall from ASHEVILLE NC - Dewey Sluder...his favorite response to someones' complaint was : " Yeah !!!, It's ruff all Over !! "

Dr. Whitmore was known as the "father of modern urologic oncology." For 33 years (!), starting in 1951, Dr. Whitmore served as chief of urology at what is now Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Whitmore was quoted (above) during a nationally distributed discussion of prostate cancer treatments. The comment demonstrated Dr. Whitmore's broad understanding of the need to balance treatment with the side-effects of said treatment. In today's parlance, "quality of life" has become a primary study end-point and has evolved in a separate discipline. Dr. Whitmore was one of the first to insist that quality of life always be considered in treatment decisions.

When people ask me how I'm doing I'm tired of small talk so now I pretty much always say..."Terrible. How you doin'?" (Just shuts 'em up. Or they ignore it and actually tell me how they're doing).


Until this year I pretty much thought of myself as a base hitter. Now? I'm swingin' for the fences. :-)

When I'm tired and sitting in my recliner,
my dog Cooper who LOVES to play ball,
gets his ball comes up to me and stares at me and says.
"Come on dad, lets play." :-) :-)
If I don't get up, he says.
"Get up you fat lazy b%^$&rd and lets play!" mad
So, I get up.
Love that dog for talking to me, he keeps me going!! cool cool
