Debbie,
Every now and then I have to rescue a new member who has been treed by the other members because they started off on the wrong foot with their first post or two. The first step in the process of getting you down from that tree will be explaining why they are barking at you.
If you click the "forum rules" link near the top of the page and read the list of rules you will see rule 5, which says:
5. No posts regarding research studies, surveys, or clinical trials without prior approval from the forum administrator.. This is one of the rules where the wording is probably a bit wider than it intends to be. The intent is not to keep people from talking about
the clinical trials they are participating in, or even things they have found that they think might help them or someone else here. The intent is to keep the people who are running the trials from spamming us by
pretending to have a legitimate reason to be here when all they really want is to drive links to the trials they are running.
Obviously it is sometimes hard to sort out who is which. Among the things we do is to ask new members to tell us about
themselves and how prostate cancer has touched them. People who are just here to recruit for a study will usually not have much of a back story and won't take the time to make up a believable one. We are also unusually suspicious of new member who want to talk mostly about
a study on their first couple of postings.
Unfortunately, your first posting does set off some of our alarms. Your member name, for instance, is a clear reference to the clinical trial BHR-200-201 (see
/clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02349386 ) and most of the text of your first post was copied and pasted from the website for the group running the study.
This doesn't -- necessarily -- mean that you are just here to spam us. People who make the often-admirable decision to participate in a clinical trial can tend to be true believers who have every right to join us here but who sometimes sound like spammers because they are in such a rush to tell us about
the swell clinical trial they have found that they forget to introduce themselves first. I think you can see how copying and pasting the text from the website you linked got you off on the wrong foot here, given our Rule 5 concerns.
So, tell us a bit more about
your husband. How long has he been in the trial? How's he doing? Where did he have his HDR treatment done?
If you want people to private-message you you will need to make a small change to your profile to make your email address visible to other members. Currently we can't see it. If you need help editing your profile you can click the icon that looks like an envelope on the left, under my name and send me an email.
