I miss you tall guy! Maybe next time. This was a great session. With Darryl Mitteldorf very deservingly winning the Harry Pinchot award we have had a great session. I introduced Vogelzang to several advocates and I was able to hook Todd and Joel Nowak (and Wendy) together in a very emotional private session that was truly amazing to watch. A 3200 PSA survivor with a 5 separate cancer survivor was indeed a beautiful event that was shared intimately.

Wow, I only was able to attend ¾ of a day Saturday, but was blown away with the speakers, and information available, and the up close and personal opportunities of meeting other folks there. I took about 50 pictures of information on the big screens presentation slide shows. I think they also have a video available soon of the entire conference speaker’s talks. I was able to hear and meet Drs. Moyad, Kwon, Sandler, Vogelzang, and also Dr. Myers. ( I will be adding Metaformin to my regimine) I was sorry to miss the other esteemed panel.

CaliJr and Cicero, so sorry I did not see you there, another time hopefully. I was happy to finally meet you in person Tony, and for that Bro-hug we shared.

Also overjoyed to finally meet my man, Todd, a special meeting, and hopefully the first of many more. I spotted him a mile away, as he was wearing a bright Hawaiian shirt and cowboy hat. The most colorful crayon in the carton, indeed. I was fortunate also to stumble into that intimate meeting with Tony and Todd, and to listen to Joel Nowak tell his story, and it is amazing, he is a five separate cancer survivor. I had spoken to him online and knew his story, but to hear it in person was priceless. Thank you again Tony and Todd(and Joel with gracious wife Wendy) for making the conference all worth it!
And..I also met Ken Griffey Sr.!!

All together besides the 60 page Conference Program, I picked up 51 pamphlets, 10 business cards, 8 magazines, 6 books, 5 pens,, 3 notebooks , 2 little flashlights, and best freebie ever, a squeezable stress relief prostate replica. I needed that stress relief while driving in L.A! I also got some free nutrient boosts with separate packages of: Olives, Pistachios, Sesame seeds, Numi organic tea, Ginsing and Herb tablets. Might have deleted that benefit by eating a Kit Kat , two thin mints and a cookie!

I came away feeling that there is a lot of new information out there that we all need to investigate, and to be more empowered to be our own best advocate for treatment. Hopefully there will be more of these information-sharing seminars available all over the country. You should all try to attend one if they do!

Nicholas Vogelzang get credits for announcing the trial proposed by MD Anderson whom is a member of SWOG.

The patient profile is this:
HNPC (hormone naive) with metastatic or visceral lesions confirmed at presentation.

The schema is this:

Arm 1: (Active): ADT + RP or RT followed by continuation of standard of care.
Arm 2: Standard of care

Randomization takes place after starting ADT. Patients eligible for Doce+6 will follow the standard of care after any cytoreductive therapy.

Technically, neither you are Todd are eligible under this trial. That stated, debunking procedures are not new. The question at hand is whether there is overall survival benefits to treating the primary tumor aggressively. Will this translate over to men who have been through various therapies? Probably not from the data gathered here. But it could in fact lead to additional trials testing that hypothesis.

I posed the question to Dr. V regarding prostate removal 10 years post DX of MCRPCa with undetectable scans and PSA. His reply.... Certainly not today but if your PSA begins to rise then it is worth looking into.
I am not savvy to the trial parameters Tony can quote like WAC codes nor do I rub elbows with those in the know but Nicks logic made sense. PCA is on of the only cancers that upon DX with metastasis we do not go after the mother ship. The logic further plays out like this.... New metastasis comes from the mother ship so why do we leave it alone. Whether or not it happens, time will tell. After all, I do need something else to further challenge my erections.
