On January 20 this year the POTUS fired off a "moonshot" to cure cancer. It's a great novel idea but it has it's issues. For example cancer is one general word. But cancers are actually thousands of different diseases with different traits and characteristics. There are now 40+ variants of prostate cancer alone today. And probably twice that amount when all the research is said and done.
No I think the reason you can't truly call the POTUS declaration a moonshot? The term moonshot was derived from Kennedy's call to launch men to the moon. But it was easier because there was only 1 moon to target.
