I removed my catheter this morning a day earlier than what was suggested by my doctor. It was really irritating the tip of my penis. I just had my first urination and didn't make it to the bathroom. Still had not emptied my bladder and all went well, but the tip of my penis burned like hell.

I have been on cipro since the catheter was put in place. I also see that a lot of fluids are good. Any other advice would be appreciated!

Oh and very important....do you wear depends or something else?

Hang in there! I leaked over 700 grams when they first took out my catheter. Went though four pads a day. What helped me was riding a bike. Put pressure on the bottom pelvic muscles. Also took Oxybutynin. After two months I am leaking less than a teaspoon a day.

Different issue. Could you please put your status in the "signature" area? The more you share about your condition the more useful information people can give you.

Most important, welcome! Lot of great people here. Lot of wisdom (at least a lot more than I have).

Keep an eye out on your urine flow. There is a slim chance, but if you find that the stream is drastically narrowing down you probably developed a fossa navicularis stricture. You need to contact your urologist and let him know before it totally blocks urine flow.

Thanks for all of the advice. I am doing much better now. I've been drinking a lot of water and the burning and incontinence have not reoccured. I think I'm on the right path now.

I will also complete my profile as soon as I can.

lapilot i can see from his post where you think he had a slow flow... read it again... the "still had not emptied my bladder'" was in reference to not making it ot the john not that he still hasn't emptied his bladder,,, I just dont want him to be concerned abour something that has not had a hint of showing up...thats my read of the post...and yours...

Wetness safety tip.

Place a depends pad inside of a Depends diaper, definitely helps prevent that embarrassing leakage.

I understood his post, but as I said there is a small possibility that the abrasion at the end of the penis could develop into a stricture. Usually this happens when a catheter larger than a 18 french catheter. If that is the case he should be ready to either visit his urologist or take it upon himself to dilate the stricture.
