New member, locally avanced pc

Hi, I would like to introduce myself as a new member on this forum and take the opportunity to ask a few questions.

My short story is that I was diagnosed with pc earlier this year, and had robotic RP i may. The histology report was good (as described in my signature), and I thought I was "cured". However, first psa 0.12 after 4 months was disappointing news. I quickly had a Ga 68 psma Pet-CT sca, which unfortunately showed "a psam positive tiny 6x4 mm lymph node located at the bifurcation of the right commom iliac vein". My medical team first considered cyberknife as treatment, but have now decided to go for hormone treatment (2 year) starting now and followed-up with radiating lymph nodes and prostatic bed in 2-3 months time.

I have full confidence in that I'm getting best possible advice/treatment in UK, but still can't stop wondering if anybody on this forum have any additional information/comments to add ?

In addition, I also more specifically wonder if anybody have any information about diet before starting radiation ? Should I stop broccoli, tomato, green tee,etc. when radiation starts ?

Welcome to the group. Sorry you are here, but there are a lot of very smart people who can give you advice. While your signature did not show up it seems like we may be in a similar position. I had surgery last April, started hormonal therapy last June, and I have only 9 (great!) out of 38 radiation treatments left.

For me, diet was critical for radiation. They need your bladder full and your rectum empty. This is to minimize radiating unwanted areas. Doing both for me is an issue. I had to change my diet and eliminate anything that produced gas. More than once I had so much gas that they could not do the treatment (they do a mini CT scan for alignment and to check your bladder/rectum before every treatment). That means no beans, broccoli, and dairy, greasy foods and anything else that could produce gas. I also take "Gas-X", an anti gas pill which I am not sure work.

Boigo, your salvage radiation treatment plan boosted with the ADT is pretty much standard treatment..In loose terms, it's effective about 50% of the time...

HT plus IMRT is the standard of care for your situation. Since you don't know if the one spot is the only one, radiating the prostate bed and all pelvic nodes gives you a better chance for a cure or at least durable remission. Just follow instructions on keeping bladder full and avoiding foods which cause bloating for you and you'll do ok. HT and radiation are no walk in the park but what choice do any of us have? This is our new normal! Note the meds I take below to reduce side effects of HT. Don't suffer needlessly.
