Hello All, baseline psa just prior to SBRT monotherapy was 6.87.First 3 month draw was 3.69.1 month later VA gave me an unexpected blood draw for a general check up due to Agent Orange.I didnt know that the 6 viles of blood drawn that a psa was included.When a visit back at VA the Dr. said your psa draw was 4.47.I was shocked.So going in for my 6 month blood draw,now,I was really worried.Thinking if this psa draw goes up I got problems.Tomorrow I see Dr. Hirsch for the results.But no,I got the results from the hospital today and the psa was 2.40.So its down.It takes a lot to make me happy.Im happy today.The spike of psa from the VA I believe was from husband wife activity prior to the VA draw.Even with a radiated prostate I believe that was the cause of that spike,I hope.I am drinking an Octoberfest beer tonight celebrating my good fortune. Hey 0311!

Congratulations on the lower reading. I think it took me two years of bounces to finally stop worrying about it completely. I stopped wondering what caused this bump or that bump, and I thought about an elevated PSA as cancer cells dying - that made me happier. Would it have been easier if my PSA reached 0.2 in two years rather than 5 years? Probably so. But I did grow accustomed to it (in fact, I got so cavalier about it that I forgot to get a PSA one year).

Great news on the drop!!!

PSA after SBRT can be bouncy. You're doing fine.

0311, I'll drink a beer in your honor tonight.

Maybe it's of interest that Chris King told me to get a PSA 3 months after the procedure, and then not again until 9 months and 15 months.

03, congrats. That is good news indeed! BTW, you are not allowed just to buy yourself a beer...those of us here at HW are expecting a brew or two as well.

0311- well, there ya go. Congrats big time to you. I guess you can just add those numbers to your home medical file and continue on towards your 'nadir' value. (Did I use that word right?) It is something we will remember and what not-to-do right before a blood test. ..wink,wink

Thanks everyone for the positive vibes.I graduated to the 6 month PSA draw,not until March 14,2017 and that is the anniversary of my last SBRT treatment.

InquisitiveOne,your looking at getting the first PSA draw under your belt soon.You will be fine.What was your baseline PSA ?

You mean my hubby's PSA? The highest it ever got was 7.79 and then just before he started Lupron shots the doctor checked it again and it was 7.66. He happened to get one checked while at Sloan mid-SBRT and it was down to 3.20 so hopefully it will still be on a downward trend. Your history and my Husband's are similar.

Yes, this site led us to possibilities we did not know existed before. There are fantastic doctors across our country but it's true that sometimes you need a little direction from those who have traveled that path already. Gosh, we would have gone a very different path taking the 1st suggestion from DH's URO in Rochester if we hadn't been here. Who knows where we would be at this time. So grateful for HW. Cheers.

Not to mention your "advice" at Upstate with their brand new cancer center and the vaunted VERO SBRT machine. SBRT is "experimental" ??? Sheesh...still annoys me to no end...I thought there was a viable SBRT program close to home.

0311 - I've been out of town visiting the grandson, so I didn't see this thread when you posted it. Many hearty congratulations to you! I'll be seeing Dr. Hirsch this Friday for my fiducials, so I'll say "Hi" for you again.
