We leave tomorrow very early. Took care of lodging/flying arrangements.
We will be staying at Fifth Avenue Inn and Suites. We stayed there before and liked it.
Anyway, my question: looking for the cheapest way to get from the Rochester Airport to the hotel.
They have cabs and all kinds of shuttles. It is hard to mail down the best one to take.
I know a few of you go there regularly. I've spent time online searching, but it just dawned on me that this is the best place for such information.

Are you kidding? It's less than 10 miles away.

As usual, a smart aleck remark...and totally useless.
(I seem to recall it was a 30-45 minutes ride last time -- but you are probably right on the distance)

Shuttle service to the Downtown area (including Mayo Clinic) is approximately $15 per person.
Taxi service to the Downtown area (including Mayo Clinic) is a flat rate of $32 per trip, plus $5 for each additional passenger.
Take the shuttle, then treat yourself to a McFlurry at dinner.

Jack:
Thanks for the direct answer.
Actually, Mayo Clinic has a concierge department. I was able to chat with them.
It sounds like either a shuttle or cab will be about
the same.
I think they quoted a shuttle as $15 per person (so $30) and a cab as $25 + $5 per person beyond the first person (hence $30.)

You can also fly into the twin cities, and take a shuttle to downtown Rochester, I think.

Actually, if I wasn't working, we would have driven. It's about
800 miles!

Bobby:
I had checked that. No uber in Rochester. I was surprised. Incidentally, uber always has issues with local town governments. Sometimes they are not allowed to operate at airports!

Finding the best way to get to a treatment centre seems very "proper" to me.

I fail to see anything improper about
seeking the best way to get to downtown Rochester.
Anyway, I think my question has been answered.

Mel,
Here's hoping that your Mayo visit gives you some good information that will be helpful. Take care.

Mel, best of luck on this trip. I hope you find some workable solutions. Proper subject? Well, there is a lot more to seeking treatment than making a list of names and "going there". The practical questions are numerous, and seeking input from those who have actually been there is valuable. Navigating one's way to the hospital in an unfamiliar city can be a nightmare....especially since every big city hospital I've been to or near over the last few years seems to be a construction site where the traffic patterns change daily.
Heck, if one is driving oneself (or your spouse is driving and you're navigating), having a hint about
which parking garage or parking lot to park in is very helpful.

I can only scratch my head at the "proper subject" comment.
How is this anywhere close to being "improper."
Guess I need to start a thread for comments on the VP Debate??!!
