Results of F-18 Bone Scan After Jaevtana /Carboplatin Chemo

Hi All,

As you may know My MRI results last week showed the lesion in my liver dissolved by 50%. From about 2cm to about 1cm.

The F-18 NaFl bone scan
IMPRESSION:
1. Re-demonstration of many of the previously seen osseous metastatic disease, with decreased uptake compared to prior. Several of the previously seen osseous lesions are no longer seen. This likely represents response to
treatment.

2. No other convincing changes from prior Scan in June.

PSA is now at 0.04 I'll consider this a battle victory for now.

I'm going to get that liver lesion out one way or another.

Does anyone know how long the chemo takes before it is no longer actively destroying cancer cells?

I'm not letting up on this beast. It's really teed me off this time!

I'd also like to add my congratulations, and like all the others I can't offer any insight on how long the good results will last.

Fact is, I don't think anyone can. Even if you find someone with exactly the same pathology and having exactly the same treatment, we are all different, as are our cancers, so while you might get a rough idea (and maybe some hope) you can't ever really know how it will work for you. Isn't PCa fun!!

Sorry my message was not clear on the Mets locations.

There is only one met in the liver. Action will be taken on that met in November. Not sure whether it will be radiation or direct infusion to the liver.

Most all the bone mets have disappeared or had lesser up take of the chemical injected to see them on the scan. That i guess is good news.

I was curious not so much about how long the chemo will keep the mets down, because like Gary they just seem to pop up somewhere else. What I was trying to say is how long does the chemo stay in ones system. In other words, what is the half life of the chemo?

My guess is about 60 days.

This sure can be an intense experience. I hope Gary is feeling ok and you as well.
