Time Between Placement of Fiducial Markers and CyberKnife

Is is OK for RO to wait more than couple of weeks after fiducial markers are placed and cyberknife radiation?

Yes. I had mine placed a month before. I had to travel in between. In fact, I think it's probably a little better to wait to let the fiducials settle in before the CT scan for the planning study.

I'll agree with TA on this. I had my markers implanted on Oct. 7, and we are waiting to plan/start treatment until I complete one more out-of-town consult. They will want to do your scans and planning close to the time of treatment, but the markers are OK when done earlier. Both of the CK RO's I met said that they would wait a week after implants to do the scans, and then treatment would be about 1-2 weeks after that. My schedule is unusual because I couldn't get to see the last specialist until the 27th, so we wait.

my RO said 3 days were OK ...that`s what we did ...staged 3 days after implants ....David

I had the gold fiducials 09-04-14 and the first SBRT 10-06-14. It was more a case of me trying to time the first Provenge cycle before my SBRT, the second concurrent with, and the final after SBRT to maximize any potential "abscopal effect".

Dr. King at UCLA was fine with the one month delay. I do not recall if we discussed any minimum timing.
