I don't think this treatment works for everybody...First, you must be put on ADT until you become Hormone Refractory..This is what makes the PC cells become susceptible to the treatment..Testosterone starvation alters them and makes them become VERY susceptible to a sudden high testosterone environment..To these cancer cells, it becomes a lethal testosterone overdose....
The procedure and drugs used and their dosages should be published and all Oncologists with stage 4 terminal prostate cancer patients should be encouraged to try this treatment procedure NOW...Why wait for the stage 2 and then stage 3 trials to be concluded..We are not evaluating a new drug here. If the treatment works on the majority of the men in the trials now, that's good enough..The drug used, a synthetic form of testosterone taken by hundreds of thousands of men who feel they have "low T" is now a generic and it's safety is not an issue..The men this treatment is aimed at are those who have been on ADT and that treatment has failed or has begun to fail...This group of men have pretty much run out of treatment choices, they have nothing to lose by trying this new approach to Hormone Treatment....Waiting for years for a series of studies to be completed and the results analyzed in fine detail is fine but it's NOT a reason to withhold this treatment from tens of thousands of men who might benefit from it greatly NOW......
