Today I am celebrating my 53rd birthday. At the time of my diagnosis it was hard to imagine reaching 50 years old. And yet here I am 10 1/2 years later and still going strong. On my birthday I am thankful for friends for family and for love. My health is the best anyone with my original prognosis could possibly hope for. It has exceeded all of my hopes and prayers. I never thought that I would live long enough to face the aches and pains of growing older. Now I know why my mom used to say it is hell to get old. My knees are shot, my theater shot, my elbow hurts and thanks to zytiga I am usually covered with multiple bruises. All of my lab work came back 100% normal.. in my mature wisdom I have come to the conclusion that mom was both right and wrong. Getting old sucks but it sure beats the alternative. I invite everyone who is willing to do so to partake of virtual drinks with me. The bar is open the tabs on me.

You are one of the most remarkable people I have ever known, and a simply splendid example of how to take what life has laid upon you and valiantly overcome it.

Happy Birthday, Todd! I suffered my 69th B-day last week. Let me tell you, getting old is not for sissies! You do appear, however, to be navigating the seas of aging far better than you ever expected, and for that, I am thankful for you.
