Sinus infection -- impact on PSA

Recovering from a sinus infection (102 fever now back to normal, as am I!).

I am set to do my PSA on Wednesday.

I am sans prostate.

Will this sinus stuff artificially raise my PSA???

who can give a factual answer on that ...but he's on first...I suppose it could artificialy lower it...keep it the same ..or raise it...who knows...why would you pick the worst scenario...I know I harangue you on this point all the time...but you must see a tiny valid point in what I am saying... Well some one will come by and tell you what you want to hear... If I had to make a call your psa will be what it will be ...and sinus infection recovery...will play squat in the reality...Im rooting for you but I sometime wonder what to root for...for you...seriously...you need some faith man...in anything...ich mach nix...anything..this has been going on sine 2009...I always wondered what would happen when it got to this point...as you fully expected it would...what now...man...what know...ruin the rest of your life in anxiety...the "sickness unto death" I can only offer my faith...but doubt you want that...the rest here will continue to enable you...you will be glad you have friends ...all to what end...most of this is you feeling the best of you is behind..and you are sucombing to malaise... same old pitch...same old ditch...the election...the aging...the what evahs...It must be awful...I empathize...but...its all you my friend and what ever survivor skills you have mustered...over the years...Im still believing the psa will drop or have a negligable movement... I hope the post is received in the spirit I send it...

In all seriousness, I doubt it. I have no scientific basis for this assertion, but I've not heard of anything like a sinus infection affecting PSA.

I wonder how you would design a research study to determine the "truth." This would be hard to randomize. . .

Mel, my understanding is that the only thing that will drive your PSA at this point is PCa. Let's hope that you continue to be stable and on vacation from treatments.

I sometimes encounter people who have their heads so far up their backsides that this may, in fact, be an occurrence.

Not likely in this case, though.

Not sure. However, I recall Tony C posting some time ago that some sinus medicine could impact the PSA.

Not sure, but IIRC, my uro recommended that I not use decongestants because I had BPH with (at the time) some mild urinary reluctance. He said that the meds could cause more swelling in the prostate, affecting urination. Maybe this is what is said to affect PSA - the swelling?

You're correct most decongestant products can cause a person with a prostate problem,having a problem going if you read the label on most cold products it also advises caution
I have never seen anything suggesting that it affects PSA one way or another,I guess I would ask my Dr that question

I did send Dr. Lam the exact question I posted.
His response:
"nope"

I will be seeing the vampire this afternoon or tomorrow if this darn Michigan blizzard continues here
