Thanks to the wise counsel and advice of my mentor Tall Allen, I did my SBRT in conjunction with Provenge to leverage any potential "Abscopal Effect"
www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/242784.phpSo I had once Provenge cycle before the SBRT, one concurrent with, and one after. A cycle is done every other week for 3 cycles.
It has been a little over two years and absolutely no adverse side effects. My RO was Dr. Chris King at UCLA and the Provenge was overseen by Dr. Jeffrey Turner an associate of Dr. Mark Scholz and Dr. Richard Lam at Prostate Oncology Specialists in Marina del Rey CA.
I provided a copy of my dose volume histogram to Tall Allen who discussed it with Dr. King. The extremely low dosage to vital organs Dr King attributed to a perfect storm of favorable anatomy and visceral fat, the one time a doctor did not advise that I needed to lose weight.
This all took place in October 2014 and I stopped taking Lupron after 25 months and stopped taking Zytiga after 9 months at end of April 2015. For past 20 months my PSA has been undetectable but so has my Testosterone.
I do not suffer from low T fatigue and I attribute that to 10,000 IU of vitamin D-3 with 100 mcg of vitamin K-2 and 1200 mg calcium nightly. It is not how much D-3 one absorbs but rather how much is retained and my serum D measured quarterly is in the 60's where normal range is [30-100].
I live in rural west central FL but was treated in LA. To avoid high hotel costs in LA, I found it cheaper (and more family friendly) to advance purchase SW Air tickets about
$75 each way to San Jose where my son and his family live.
I would catch fist flight to LAX, Uber to Dr. King's UCLA facility in and out in less than an hour, Uber back to LAX and fly back to San Jose in mid afternoon. So two flights same day attest to no side effects.
