FWIW:
about
once or twice a year, I get a sudden loss of vision. I can see in general, but if I try to read every other letter seems to just be a bright light. I also get flashes of "lightening" in the corner of my eyes. It last 10 minutes and is gone as suddenly as it appears. When it first happened I went to a top retinal specialist, fearing a detachment or maybe a TIA.
The result: with both eyes, it is unlikely to be a TIA. The specialist was reasonably sure it is ocular migraines. In my case, I appear to be in the 30% that have no other symptoms. Many get miserable migraine headaches after the initial visual issues.
I just had my fourth attack a few days ago. I wasn't concerned and it went away quickly enough
Could that be what you have?

Hi Mel
I'm not saying it could be and I'm not saying it can't be. Oddly enough that is what I decided it must be prior to talking to Nick in Las Vegas. It's the timing of the onset that leads me and Nick to believe that it is something more serious. I have never had it happen without my PSA being skyhigh

Hopefully it remains an "academic curiosity"!
