Has anyone been to, or been treated at the VATTIKUTI INSTITUTE, in Bloomfield Michigan.

Yes. I had my surgery done by Dr. Menon at Ford Hospital

I had a consult with Dr. Menon last week. If I choose surgery, he's probably going to be my choice. He's currently recruiting patients for an FDA HIFU trial. Some pretty restrictive requirements to be included though.

AS should to be your first choice I believe. HIFO is something in the middle between AS and surgery. For HIFO you need to have a very accurate biopsy, the standard TRUS-guided random biopsy is not sufficiently accurate for selecting candidates for focal therapy. Inform us which treatment you choose. Dr. Menon did my surgery last April. Very positive about the experience, but I did feel like I was in an assembly line (he does so many surgeries).

Thanks for the replies guys, I have an Appt with the DR Menon, there 2/15/17. Apparently the HIFU has been approved by the FDA in 2015, at least what I read on internet.
I will definitely ask him about that, I am a Gleason 6.

Hey Guys
So I saw the team at Henry Ford, DR Menon. I was impressed by the way things seem to run. Spoke with Dr Menon, he advised to continue with Active Surveillance at this time, thought this was a good idea. They are going to review my prostate MRI's, for a second opinion and get back to me.

I am still a bit nervous about having this cancer inside of me, but not ready to pull the trigger on taking it out. Has any one had any experience with:
1. Taking Finasteride to shrink your prostate?
2. Radiation therapy to prostate instead of removal of prostate?

Brian, as good as the surgery team at Henry Ford is...talking with them only gives you part of the story. You are not far from Chicago. For a different opinion go see Dr. Moran there. He is one of the world's top LDR brachy experts.
