I somehow missed you were doing a second round of Provenge. That must be a pretty uncommon approach. Here's hoping for continued great numbers!

Well, Jerry my friend. Round 2 is what my oncologist wants. Insurance might not be so eager. Time will tell

Thanks for the Blog Post Todd. The problem I am having with Zytiga. Prednisone, Lupron and Zometa is acute fatigue and my moods change by late in the afternoon. I have to be real careful what I say to people. However I am alive so that is good.

Thanks for sharing Todd. Hubby FINALLY agreed to see an Oncologist I've been wanting him to do so from the beginning, but his PSA started rising this past year and he finally agreed). We met with him Friday. We both liked him. He also wants hubby to see a Radiation Oncologist. Between them they are ordering tests (bone density, CT and/or MRI, bone scan, etc.). I'm hoping one of them will order a C11 CT/PET or one of the other 'new' more sensitive scans. But even a 'regular' scan would be more than his urologist is willing to do. I'm thinking Zytegia will be our first approach, and again, I'm hoping someone will consider Provenge.

Very good post Todd. As you pointed out, there are many now on zytiga that will be considering the option of regaining testosterone at some point, when Zytiga had been used after all else failed, but is now being administered early on, such as yourself. You are truly a pioneer (better analogy than lab rat, IMHO). I haven't had a chance to watch your video, but I will soon.
We're quite a ways south of you and quite ready for the rain to end as well. We took a little trip inland to view the lakes (Clear Lake, Oroville, and Barryessa) We visited Gary's dad in Red Bluff, but didn't make it to Shasta. Looks like no shortage of water for new Blue, if the rain ever ends.

You're right ... you've been on the forefront of both PROVENGE treatments and now the newer breakthrough prescription medication ZYTIGA. Other brothers here are on XTANDI ...

Your recent blog update about ZYTIGA points out an important point ... our brothers here DO represent the first "generation" of fellows being treated with the newer breakthrough treatments and medications such as XTANDI, ZYTIGA, PROVENGE, and XOFIGO ...

Doctors are still assessing their efficacy ... researchers are still staying late at the lab, trying to figure out new strategies to further maximize the potential of these medications ... or finding ways to combine them with other treatments, for a greater synergistic effect ... or finding ways to reinvigorate their strength, when the body becomes resistant to their impact ...

On the top shelf of my medicine cupboard, I now have all my empty ZYTIGA bottles lined up ... each bottle of ZYTIGA lasts a month ... I now have 20 ZYTIGA bottles, lined up in a perfect row ...

It started quite by accident ... I saved the first empty bottle after my first month on ZYTIGA ... then I saved the second bottle ... and I just received my 20th bottle of ZYTIGA pills ... four large, white, chalky pills, taken each day with water ... it's how my day starts. I'm thankful for the emergence of this breakthrough medication. I'm thankful that it is helping other friends of mine, as well.

I started on ZYTIGA in the late summer of 2015. I'm a school teacher, and a new school year was just beginning. That first bottle of ZYTIGA pills drove my PSA down to the lowest level it had ever been since I was diagnosed.

I didn't know how long ZYTIGA would last for me ... but, so far, it has carried me through two entire school years. My journey with ZYTIGA continues ...

I'm out on that playground with my school kids, every single day ... sunshine, snow, and mud ... I exercise every day ... I stay active ... I've got my head in the game ... I have a lot to be thankful for ... including ZYTIGA.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and insight through your ongoing blog, Todd. Your words and life story continue to inspire others, in far-reaching ways. Thanks for your continued outreach here on the forum.

I thought I already posted a reply, but guess not(brain fog) . I did post a big kudo on your videos on you tube. Anyway,here it is this short one one now, better late than never.

Todd, you could not have said it any better, I salute you for being a persistant trailblazing battle brother. The "stats" aren't in on long term Zytiga treatment yet, so every day the old ones are out the window. You and I, and Gary and Beth and Darrin and actually all of us should refuse to just be considered statistics and governed in treatment by abstractions. We are living ,breathing human beings with hearts and souls and hopes and dreams that defy any curve or forecasts that can be conceived. My treatment plan in future consists of living, surviving and thriving.

ISU Cyclone-You also could not have said your reply any better. I love that line-up of empty Zytiga Bottles, I do the same thing and have 29 lined up and counting! It has been a powerful drug for me.

How many milligrams of Prednisone do Zytiga users take?

FYI... My wife has taken 4 to 7 mill grams a day for years for a rare autoimmune disease (IGG4-RD). The one thing her Doctor stressed was Prednisone can make the bones weak and it is important to take Calcium, Magnesium, Vitamin D and K together each day. There are some Bone Strength pills that have all of these and some other seemingly innocuous stuff in one pill.

Hello Gear,

In answer to your question about the prednisone steroid tablets that must be taken daily for those of us on ZYTIGA ...

My oncologist prescribed 5 mg prednisone tablets, to be taken twice a day, for a total of 10 mg of prednisone per day.

Gear and Cyclone. Sorry I missed you guys. A hugely busy day. It is oncology day and I had to start work 2 hours early to get to my appointment on time. I am very tired but
My infusion is almost done then I can drive back home for a couple hours.

Gear... my oncologist prescribes the same dose as cyclone. It was odd though, I had to convince them that 2x5 was correct. They initially wanted me to take 2x10

Isu cyclone fan. What can I say but thank you. You always put a great deal of thought into your posts.

Has anyone idea how can zytiga be purchased in india. We have some generic compound of the same drug here . I have no idea how effective it is. My fathers PSA after completing PSA was 0.24 and after one month it is 0.8. i guess it again started rising. Bad luck. My oncologist said that after 15 days we will again check PSA and then we have to start Arbiterone acetate. Meanwhile, I am trying to search if Zytiga is available from india with some discounted price or in patient programme...

Aberiterone acitate is Zytiga. It is reserved for patients in the USA who have failed hormone therapy. I am afraid I know nothing about the medical system in India. Many positive thoughts to you and your father

Todd, thank you. I'm brand new to the forum. My husband was diagnosed in February, and we just found out that it has metastasized to the lumbar area. I'll be working on signature with the details, but I first needed to find some good news. Your post is one of the first I saw, and your blog gives us hope. I can't wait to share it with my DH. Thank you.
