Biopsy results are in (post edited with official results)

Well I met with the doctor today to get the results of last weeks biopsy. And thankfully no cancer was found and 7 of the 8 cores showed chronic inflammation. Told to keep regularly PSA checks and if it spikes then not to worry but to watch for the gradual rise. So thank you to everyone for the support and information! Looks like I'm just a passer by this time! Take care!!

That is very, very cool! Always good to see someone just passing through here. I do think you should stay on top of your PSA, but not in any obsessive way. Sort of like you know you have to change oil in your car every once in a while but it's no big deal, you should do the regular PSA check.

As you leave, here's the thing that I would encourage you to keep in mind and remember for the future...

What we call "prostate cancer" today is largely a very natural element of men aging. By far, most men die WITH prostate cancer and not BECAUSE of prostate cancer. (Frankly, most never know that they have it...but they do.) Most prostate cancers do not even need treatment. Some doctors & pathologists have proposed not even calling the lowest level and most common version of "prostate cancer" by the name of "cancer" because unlike most other cancers it cannot kill you...yet the "shock" of a "cancer" diagnosis freaks out many men into wanting/seeking an unnecessary aggressive treatment (we call that "over-treatment").

So remember this...10 years from now when you have another prostate biopsy (because as men age, they tend to have increasing numbers of prostate biopsies), don't over-react if something labeled as "cancer" is found. Although, possibly in 10-years from now, the current low-risk "prostate cancer" may even go by another name...

Thanks for letting us know.Unfortunately, with chronic prostatitis, it will always be challenging to use PSA as a monitoring tool. I suggest you get regular PHI tests instead.

PSA every 6-months is overkill for you, but once per year as part of a wellness health physical is appropriate now that you've experienced some elevation, if for nothing else then to keep that prostatitis in-check.
