Mel (compiler) paralyzed from accident

Mel asked me to pass along this sad news. He fell and hit his spine in a bad place. No feeling in his arms and legs. He will be starting rehab soon - hopefully, the feeling will return. He'll be staying in LA during this process. He had finished his SBRT to a LN met and had no side effects, so at least that is good news.

He can't use his hands to get online, but Cheryl will be picking up his messages. If anyone wants to send an email, I can give his email address.

Oh NO! That is absolutely terrible news. We are SO very sorry to hear it. Please pass on our heartfelt thoughts, wishes and cyber hugs to Mel and we will remain hopeful of a much better update very soon. You are very kind to pass this on to the HW members Allen - thank you for sharing. I am sure the entire board will join in sending prayers and positive healing thoughts Mel's way.

Such devastating news. I cannot believe it.
Mel and I have struck up,a friendship, we've talked by phone on a number of occasions.
Allen, does he have a decent chance of this not being permanent?

I am going to send him an email, using the email he has on helingwell. If his wife is checking a different email, and not this one, please let me know.

He says chances are about 50/50 with this sort of thing. I guess they'll know more after rehab begins.

So very, very sorry to hear this! Oh my!

Like some others here I had struck up a friendship with Mel, with emails back and forth between us. We have had some good conversations that way, not just about events here on this forum, but about things in general. In fact, I emailed him just a couple of weeks ago about something, so I suspect I do have his active email address

I definitely want to send him words of encouragement, and I hope that a number of contacts from several of us may happen and may lift his spirits.

Thank you, TA, for the information, as unpleasant as it probably was for you to post it, but please do keep us updated if you learn more.

That is shocking bad news. Bad break for a great guy.

Here's hoping the rehab works.

They can do a lot these days.

Ah, bloody hell. I was just doing a flyby Mel and came across this bad news. All I can say is I hope the effects of your accident are temporary and you eventually recover fully. I will be following your progress and hoping for the best.
