Old email gone - PLEASE UPDATE

The email provider has decided I don't exist in the few minutes between Clock's last mail and now. The account is gone, years of email gone.

So I will shortly have a new email in my profile. If you have the old one saved, please stop using it, as there is no one there to answer.

It was one of the freemail accounts, and had died once. Since they want $$ to reopen it, I'll just call it trash.

The new address (a gmail account) is now in my profile.

I've been using gmail for years and haven't had an issue with it. Google makes money out of the ads so it's in their interest to keep you using it. I found aol, hotmail, and yahoo to be spam generators and subject to hacking, so I now avoid those.

Changing email addresses can be a pain as many services today now use your email address as the user name or for password recovery.

gmail and their search engine are just sources to feed Google's real asset...their data store. The evolution of Google's privacy policy over time is amazing. "Consent" is now implied versus explicitly sought...yet they still have been shown to break their own privacy "rules" when it suits them.

In general most computer geeks think that gmail is reliable but that aol and yahoo have many problems.

I have a gmail account as a backup. But, I also have my own domain hosted by an ISP. I download my email to my PC using Outlook 2016. That means I have a copy of all my email on my PC. I back it up to the cloud in case my PC explodes.

AOL, Yahoo and Hotmail are probably the most spammed email providers and some mail transfer agents won't even relay mail from one of those domains. I also have my own domain name and use two accounts on that, one of which I always use when I expect spam or advertising and one which I use very judiciously for mostly personal communication.

My Gmail account is mostly a backup but I'm the webmaster of a large club that uses Google Docs (or Google Sheets) quite a bit so a Gmail account is required to use some of those services.

I always use IMAP and not POP since I access my mail from so many different devices. If my years of email disappeared from my web host provider it wouldn't be a big deal.

Just a bump to remind everyone that my old email address is GONE.

I am still getting notifications on new mail, but can't get to them. Please update your email address if you need to contact me.

I had a similar problem with our MSN e-mail, suddenly Outlook took it over and cant easily get it back. Have to jump thru some hoops to get it back I guess.
