Mel (compiler) paralyzed from accident

Update--Mel's bladder has been impacted as well. Has to do an in and out catheter every six hours and now has a uti. It might be responding well to the antibiotic. Mel greatly appreciates your posts. Working hard every day on physical therapy. Cheryl and Mel

Have to get in line to wish you well and echo what so many have said. If any one can make it through Rehab and come out walking, it will be you.

You may remember that I have a little experience in Rehab after an industrial accident 4 years ago. Don't give up, keep your determination and work hard. All things are possible.

UTI now?? Not fair!!! Keep an eye out for mouth thrush if he's on Cipro. Can't be fun having a catheter and UTI. How's his spirits, Cheryl.

Mel (and Cheryl) - I, too, will follow this thread religiously. You are both in our prayers, and we wish you continued progress.

I know that physical therapy can be a real drag - but for most of us it works wonders. Wishing Mel nothing less than wonders.

Cheryl please tell Mel that we are thinking of him daily, and from the reply posts 100 in 10 days, and over 4,000 looks, he is setting some kind of record, that's how much we care. Mel ,you are one of my favorite posters here on HW.
I keep bumping up his request for "March test results" each day, mine was very good, undetectable PSA for 30th month.
81gyGuy had a great summary of current treatments for Mel, sounds "awesomely encouraging" if I can coin that phrase, also knowing that he will make "gia-normous" improvements in the coming days.

Today was an exceptionally good day. While being showered, all of a sudden he had a delightful pee. He repeated this quite a few times. We hope his catheter days are gone.
This place is gruelling in its physical therapy but today we saw some results. Mel was walking using a modified walker with the help of about four therapists. Still struggling with use of his hands but strength in legs is showing improvement. Cheryl, approved by Mel

Progress - and we know that means that there is room for more! I know how much work it can be, but Mel is a fighter. I'm confident that he will be back here (and back to his life) sooner than we think.
