I rarely post on this Forum - in fact Jim was often my mouth piece on Healing Well.
I have known Jim Crotty via UsTOO Inspire since the time he was first diagnosed and I had the privilege of supporting him ...... I am stunned, and send sincere condolences and much comfort to Karen and to his kids and grandkids, including those down San Jose way.
Jim was a regular early member of The Reluctant Brotherhood virtual support group that later transitioned to Answer Cancer Foundation www.ancan.org. He took a very aggressive approach to treating his disease. First SBRT if I recall with King at UCLA; then as soon as his PSA rose, he forced the issue to get Provenge. I think his fight against PCa was successful - I know nothing of the melanoma.
We met physically around 2013 when he was visiting his daughter and grandkids in the San Jose area. He reached out to me, insisting we should get together, then drove up to Emeryville where we sat down at the large studio belonging to my dear buddy, Jerry Carniglia GRHS. Jim and Karen were driving back to Florida through Chicago, and he made a point of stopping by 'Cericwin' who both of us had been supporting at the time. Jim was always ready to help others any way he could.
Couple of years back, Jim changed his handle from 'LupronJim' to 'NoMarLupron4Me'. about
that time he started posting far more frequently on this site rather than Inspire. I endorse all the accolades and send much comfort to his family.
Jim joins many of his buddies ...... Jerry, Dom Marrese, Eric Winters and many more who will take care of him. May his memory be a blessing to us all,
Onward & upwards, rd
