Observing another milestone - 4 years since diagnosis

It was 4 years ago today that I got the news about my biopsy results. A 4 o'clock call from my urologist, and suddenly I think I could hear the earth rotating. I knew what the numbers meant, having researched this already when my dad was going through PCa, and from my own brush with an elevated PSA 10 years earlier. To say it was life-changing would be something of an understatement.

Some don't like to observe these things, since they are traumatic events and maybe for some best left forgotten. However, to me these are the mileposts, the turning points, the inflection points that direct the trajectory of our lives. It occurs to me that with the severity of my diagnosis, had it not been found then, my present situation would likely be quite dire. Today, I feel great, blessed, and celebratory.

And 4 years on Healingwell. I made my first post on this forum that very night, and have been here ever since. As I've said in similar past posts, I don't know how I'd make it through this without all of you here. From diagnosis, through treatments, after the end of treatments, and perhaps on to who knows what next steps, this brotherhood is a big part of what helps me keep my feet on the ground.

I'm greatly looking forward to seeing many of you at Cajun Jeff's spring GFMPH event this coming weekend. The friends we've made through this journey are some wonderful side-effects of the whole thing!

[Edit: I note that when this posted it was post #1957 for me, the year I was born.... COSMIC....].

I am also one to remember dates, and I like to mark the significance of them as well.

I'm glad to see this post. As newbies to the journey, it's helpful to see other folks with similar diagnoses thriving several years ahead of us

Redwing, let me add my thanks for each and every one of your posts. Your positive and giving attitude goes a long way toward bringing sanity and peace to many of us, especially the new members.

May you have so many happy returns of the day that you tire of counting them.

P.S. I, too, mark anniversaries of dates, both good and bad. It helps me to track how far I've traveled from each, and life is good.
