Somewhere where the temps range from 30 to 80 degrees F. Lots of sun, with mountains nearby. Snow, but NOT lots of it.

Santa Fe, NM area. Although, it's pretty freaking expensive. But hey, on this journey price is no object. I lived in a bus there once, it snowed about 6" overnight, by noon it was all gone. My happy place.

There's no place like home.

I've read it's rather common to think of places to move to when you retire... It'd have to be a pretty special place to take the place of being close to your friends and family.

Nuttin worse than moving away only to turn around and vacation back where you came from to see your friends confused

Just the opposite... after decades living in the midwest, with hot hot summers and cold cold winters, we moved to the sunshine state, where my wife's parents live(d). Now we live on a golf course near the beach and haven't looked back. Too bad we both got cancer just after we moved!

I think the entire Tiny House thing is nuts, and mostly a fad thing. None of them will appreciate in price like real estate should. For what some people pay, why not just buy a nice travel trailer or 5th wheeler, or even used motor home? Just my opinion.

Never dreamed I would end up in SC and spend over 1/3rd of my life here, but such is the case. With all our debts paid, mortgage and all, no way at almost 65 would I want to be in debt again. Because of my VA situation, I no longer pay property taxes on the house and cars, and both cars have free tags for life. Makes more sense to leave well enough alone.

Now if I won the powerball, all bets would be off. Money can be a deal changer.

My RV is the perfect tiny house! And you can go to amazingly beautiful places with it. It's nice to travel and stay in different places which all have their own unique character. Gives you a great variety and allows you to go to warmer places in Winter, cooler in summer, etc.

But as far as a permanent home goes, I live in northern California now, but love to get out either to the coast of California or Oregon which quite a bit cheaper. I love the cool summer temps at the coast where the highs are frequently between 65-75 degrees F. even when it's over 100 inland. The winters are not much colder. And you can't beat the beach as far as I'm concerned.

Not a bad thread Thomasjohn and it does pose a interesting question. Gosh, I have lived in so many cities before retiring from retail. I presently live in the Memphis area which is o.k in many respects but others not to great. High crime which I don't care for or like but the weather is usually hot as all get out in the summer or pretty darn chilly in the winter. Retired here because of kids and grand-kids. Live in Wilmington NC for 12 years until I retired and loved it there. The beaches are nice both there and in S. Carolina and the food is wonderful.

Guess you might say I guess I am stuck where I am but would love to be like Starfinder. I would give my PCa away to have an RV. LOL
