My DH is a great guitar player. He's played professionally for just over 30 years and earns his living from music. Always has. He runs a recording studio and actively composes using analogue synths and real instruments. We played in a band together 3-4 nights per week here in Melbourne for 15 years, and had three record deals during that period. I sing (and play guitar pretty badly!). Our greatest claim to fame was a No. 3 on the Aria (Australian Music) charts in the early 90's. Far out. Even saying that makes me feel old!!

We both remain completely obsessed with, and addicted to, music. All kinds. We're not music snobs and will listen to any genre, as long as it's composed, produced and played well. I still love to sing and miss gigging live, but not the bumping out at 4am - too old for that carry-on these days! I'm an alto and GG has a great voice as well.

GG owns nine guitars (as well as his incredible old analogue synth collection), plus a bass. His collection includes Fender Tele's and Strats plus a beautiful hand made Strat put together by a luthier called Ray Mercer from Wellington, NZ. He also has two lovely acoustics - Tanglewoods. One is a 12 string.

It would seem we are in good company here!

My urologist is a classical guitarist who performs with an excellent local baroque orchestra. For some screwy reason that gives me confidence in him.

I used to sing baritone in the church choir and once did an impromptu solo of the "Star Spangled Banner" at a company commemorative service before PCa. The surgery and recovery and then the ADT and radiation left me with no energy to attend practices or sing in services.
Those who know me can usually tell when I am tired or fatigued just by listening to my voice, singing or speaking, and they usually know before I do.

My daughter learned to play piano on her own around age 12. So at age 14, got her a teacher. This is a true story, after her 4th lesson, the teacher told us that there was nothing more she could teach her. At age 36 now, she plays for crowds when she gets a chance. In high school, she would play at various large hotels, blindfolded, and could play whatever was requested while blindfolded.

David--Your daughter is a combination of Mozart and Ray Charles.

I have no talent. So, since I'm 73 years old I decided to take guitar lessons. I expected to be really bad at it, but I'm actually worse than that! But what fun! I like the sound and the chords. Hmmm. Who would have thought?

Might have been my post about my Jaguar. I got it last summer. Anyway, I play and sing, and I'm in a all-original band. It's just for fun at this point, but I am also a published songwriter.

Anyway, I sing every day, and play every day. I don't know that I would want to even exist without music!

Any of you that are in Minneapolis and want to see my band, it would be awesome to see you at a gig!

I love most kinds of music particularly 60's, 70's, and easy listening. I play guitar and sing a little. Played on weekends to finish college in 70's. Music puts me in a special place away from everything I don't want to think about. Here I am on you tube 1980's lol....

Guitar, vocals, a little Piano, Mandolin, Bass, Banjo. clarinet/sax Drums ( not sure if that negates my claim to being a musician) I mean how do you get the drummer off your porch? pay him

What do you call a guy who hangs with musicians? A drummer.

What does it mean when drool is coming out of both sides of the drummers mouth? Stage is level!

I play a PRS custom-24 through a Fender Super sonic amp and often use a vintage 1980 Ibanez tube screamer (fuzzbox) I also have a Fender telecaster a cyclone, and a 12 string stratocaster as well as a cheap cort 6 string electric. I have on the acoustic side a guild a dean an alvorez a takamine and a Yamaha. Done some studio work and have played live for 20 years

Dave plays guitar very well for an amateur, he plays various kinds of music: some folky, some jazzy, a little finger picking, a bit of electric. He has an archtop, a Telecaster clone he made from a kit (long ago he made a flamenco guitar), a cheap resonator, a Gibson, and more. He usually plays late at night when I'm asleep, he's shy about it (I love to listen to him, and tell him so often, but it's a private thing for him).

Music is so important to Dave that he's turned down chemo so far because of the possibility of peripheral neuropathy. It's not that common, though he has a gene variant that makes him more prone. But even before we knew that, he was very firm about not wanting to risk messing up his hands, at least until there are no good alternatives.

I played alto then tenor sax for about 12 years had private lessons for about 5 years. I got pretty darn good. Then college came and the saxes got put away and never played again. Now "Walk on the wild side" Lou Reed early 70's That I could play very well, Ronnie Ross was the bomb on sax at the end of that song. Do do... do do do do....nice and sweet
But now I just roll the windows down and open the sun roof and throw in a CD of ELO. Especially "hold on tight" and "Dont bring me down" turn it up and make the bose speakers sing
