More demand equals greater price. Less demand equals cheaper price.
If this still holds true...
...as the demand for longer courses in Radiation become less popular (which I believe they almost certainly are)....then the price of them must fall. The day is coming when an institution won't be able to give 40 fractions away for free...much less make money doing it.
...and as the demand for shorter treatments become more in demand (rapidly approaching), the price should rise...or more likely...
all radiation treatments will fall...and become more efficient and economical. (demand drives supply) So hospitals will migrate to the hypo-fractionated to keep costs down.
Does economics not play
any role in medicine?
