My case seems a little worse than yours, and it's the apparent bone met that has me concerned. That will likely get Stereotactic RT and then they look for circulating cancer stem cells after Tx. Fingers crossed for you, too.

Please start a new thread - you'll get better response. I'll respond there as well.

But the place where you have your therapy matters a whole lot less than the doctor. You should be asking for doctor recommendations, not center recommendations.

I agree that Dr Michael Dattoli in sarasota is a great RO. Treats only prostate cancer. Started out at Memorial Sloan Kettering. He has an exceptional staff and gets patients from around the world. Treats PCa holistically. Treated Snuffy Meyers another PCa expert. I found that the big centers follow the book . Don't treat PCa aggressively. Fine if you're low to medium risk.
These ratings by US News and World Report just don't find some of the
Best private practitioners.

I'm leaning very favorably toward Datolli. Every test and procedure, and the package is beyond comprehensive, is done in house, or nearby, within a relatively quick time frame, by a very experienced doc and his staff. It will kill me, financially, and although some other centres do offer Tx with curative intent, I believe Datolli give me the best chance, given my stage IV status, to forestall (or better) PCa killing me. I could try getting into Dx and Tx clinical trials, but it's unlikely all the necessary pieces for my puzzle will come together in anywhere near the framework offered by Dattoli. I'm 5 months post preliminary Dx, and still don't have a definitive Dx or prognosis, which may be more months away if I stay here. That's unacceptable. Now I find out my radonc has moved on, without letting me know.......? Little bit of thinking out loud here, but my decision seems pretty much made.

He treated all my pelvic lymph nodes and I've had no recurrence there . But as a Gleason 9 with poor prognosis after RP I now have a bone met in femur. I'm not going back to Dattoli because as of now he doesn't do SBRT. Just low dose IMRT. I believe he's adding SBRT later this year. So it takes a lot of fractions. He is very careful to avoid collateral damage but absolutely nukes the bad stuff! You can rent a condo for about $65 a night and enjoy the beaches and golf.

Thanks Bob. I may be able to get SBRT here, depending on how my initial consult goes with a radonc who seems to embrace most, if not all of Dattoli's model.

How far away from Datolli is the condo you mentioned?

Condos are available all over Sarasota within 10-15 minutes of his facility. I suggest you go to vacation rental by owner ( vrbo) website . I was treated September thru early December and condo rent ( two bedroom two bath) was about $65 per night. If you're by yourself it would be cheaper for one bedroom . My wife was with me. Rates change by season . Summer should be cheaper . Winter more expensive.

Thanks for starting this thread, very interesting comments so far. I have seen the US News reports and rankings for the past couple years, also interesting. I especially want to thank Tony Crispino for his comments.
I determined to go to a Center instead of a local Doctor from the outset of my diagnosis. I do have an advanced case, and just felt I need the experience of someone outside of my local comfort zone. I found a Center(not on the list) and studied the Doctor's background, and am satisfied with my choice. But to each his own, we must all find our own path. I try to be vigilant to keep looking, keep informed, and to keep an open mind. Yet, I followed someone's footsteps and I'm glad I did.

I was reading this thread and noticed it is old. Does anyone know of good PC hospitals and/or doctors in California? Specifically, in the Kaiser Network? Most of the good doctors seem to be in Eastern Provinces?
