Modified Citrus Pectin

Having searched this and other forums, and having read what literature I can find, I have two questions:
1) Some advocate not stirring the powder and liquid for a few minutes "to permit hydration," some, including the manufacturer, say to stir immediately. It's hard to dissolve, and the delay seems to work better. Any authoritative source?
2) For 5 grams 3 times a day the cost is roughly $100/month from the usual suspects. Any reliable source for better pricing?

To lower galectin-3, per the following: Although galectin-3 has long been used as a marker for heart failure; developing research also demonstrates that this glycoprotein may serve as a signaling molecule for cancer cell adhesion and even metastasis. Galectin-3 aids in regulating the cell cycle, orchestrating cell growth and facilitating cell to cell communication. However, if left uncontrolled, this “Velcro™ like protein” encourages cancer cells to aggregate and bind to surrounding tissues resulting in chronic inflammation and metastasis.

There are other such articles. My oncologist was aware of the research in this area.
As for source, I am afraid the one you suggest lacks the "modified," which is crucial and makes it expensive.

My dad and I discussed using this product for his prostate cancer in 1996. We decided not to try it because of the limited good literature on it.

Yes, might need to contact them, because you do have to wonder. That is of course a much discussed problem with any and all supplements we take, how do we really know that we are even getting what we think we are getting, no matter who we get it from or how much we pay for it. Down below, as you point out, it says: "aka: citrus pectin, fruit pectin, modified fruit pectin". It is 14.95 per pound. I paid many times more than that. It would be nice to know if this was really the same thing.

If you are referring to the description, “aka: citrus pectin, fruit pectin, modified fruit pectin”, these are other generic names this product may go under. Generally this is for search engines, i.e. SEO.

Thanks, Cigafred. I agree, no real answer. My bet is: not MODIFIED in the same way the much more expensive products are. Unless some additional impressive evidence shows up, I doubt I will continue using much of this in the future, just because of the stout expense.
