Have any1 heard about cyprotene acetate andocur???

Dear All,

we started Abriterone for my father after 12 cycles of chemo (0.4ng/ml). Since then PSA continued to rise like 2, 5.9, and finally 15 after 7 months.Our oncologist also changed ZOlodox to firmagon as his FSH was on higher side. But still no use. I have heard about some medicine namely HONVAN. Has anyone idea about that? Or ketoconazole. Well, my father is not symptomatic at all. But rising PSA is concerning and i am so worried for him.


Diagnosed prostate cancer 2014
Bone scan clear
Initial PSA 8
Radical prostactomy august 2014
PSA after 3 months 5.0
Bone scan showed one met in rib and one at lower back.
Started hormone therapy zolodox and casodex january 2015
PSA jan 2016 0.4ng/ml
stopped casodex
Bone scan showed lesion at sacral ala and lower rib
PSA april 2016 4.5
started taxotere
PSA after 3rd cycle 1.5
PSA after 6th cycle 0.6
PSA after 21 days of 8th cycle 0.4
After one month PSA 2.8
Started Abritrone acetate
PSA after 3 months 5.9
Zolodox changed to Firmagon
PSA after 3 months 15

Jannett, I'm very sorry to read that you'd dad's cancer is so aggressive.
Has he had any genetic tests done?

Would you mind sharing with me the cost of generic Zytiga in India? We might have to pay out of pocket in Canada and I'm considering options.

Dear Annie,

No we have not done any genetic tests yet. They are available only in couple of private hospitals and are very very very costly. Zytiga is of cost 1.2lakhs (Indian currency). However, other generic drugs like arbitus is of cost thirty four thousand (Indian Currency).

If abiraterone no longer works, keto won't either (they are both CYP17A1 inhibitors). Honvan is a synthetic estrogen - he may find that estrogen patches are less toxic. Since Taxotere worked so well, he can use it again at some point.

Jannett,
I'm So sorry your Dad is not responding ton
zytiga. It has worked so well for so many. Is your Dad able to move to
cabazataxil at some point? Perhaps he could get xofigo or spot radiation, though without symptoms or met pain, that would be a future option. Will he continue Zytiga to see if it just needs more time to take effect? Are immunotherapy available to you?

Dear Beth,

It was generic form of zytiga, Arbitus. It didn't affected at all. We are looking for more options like HonVan, Ketoconozole and DES (Diethylsorbitol). My father completed his docetaxal chemo in January so we are avoiding more chemo for time being. He is asymptomatic no bone pain at all. We don't have any immunotherapy or Xofigo available here in India.

Dear Allen,
I agree with you regarding ketoconozole. Some progestrone patches are also in use for mCRPC patients. We planning to give a try for the same. We have an appointment with Oncologist on saturday and will decide which treatment to start.

Dear All,

Today was appointment of my father with oncologist. He suggested some medicine cyprotene acetate Brand name Andocur.This medicine was so difficult to search as it was not available anywhere in market but somehow i got that. i thinks its anti-androgen. I dont whether it is right thing to give at this stage??

It was used in Europe for years but was never approved in the US. Equivocal results - sometimes it fed the cancer. It was supplanted by non-steroidal hormone therapy. You never know if it will work for a given individual.

yes, i also don't have much hopes from this medicine for my father i don't know why it was given. Since he is an oncologist i agreed what he said.
