PSA rising again after RP, radiation, etc. Would like some advice.

Would like some advice...haven't been here in awhile..but my PSA has started back up..after.the clinical trial..I was in ..it was casadex for 60 days along with radiation.42g.for 6 weeks full pelvic ..and two 2 shots of something...I've been in the <.05 for 4 1/2.yr till 18 months
ago.started with.09 __.23.now .43 just not sure it's doubling every 6 months....my RO says wait till the 2. Number....then go start treatment because of the treatment I've already had...we need to wait..not sure I want to

Hi deerhunter.

Hate to see that your PSA is rising.

If I were you, I'd be talking to a Medical Oncologist as soon as possible.

Its definitely moving...I am always amazed at folks who have such a good run and then boom...Why?? Im gonna start a thread on this subject...hope you respond to it along with others{there ar otheres right here on this forum}...there are quite a few...Id wait .2 aint that far away...it wont reduce your life span but will reduce your s/e's

I've noticed this as well....been a lot of guys having years of nothing (some...*many* years) that's been coming back in.. Some guys that's not had the best diagnosis....they've been out for a while....that part's what's caught my attention

Deer Hunter....I agree with Manfred and logo.....

If it were me I'd probably be wanting the opinion of an "MO" medical oncologist. If there is one close by that specializes in prostate cancer....all the better....but they've probably all seen their fair share of prostate cancer. (as common as it is)

Sadly, you need an MO who specializes in PC. Recurrence in your case is normally defined as nadir +2, hence the RO's 'call me when it gets to 2.' The question to be answered is where is it coming from.

At this point you don't know.

You're next steps are likely to restart HT or maybe chemo. The question will be when.

Thanks so much for the advice..I've been at Emory in Atlanta where my RO is but I think I'm going to get an appt with an Mo there ..my next appt is in Jan.with the RO .logo I will be tuning in to your thread...
