Re your husband, what was his PSA at time of diagnosis, if it was below 10, then I believe that chances that it spread are small.
Gleason (3+4) is considered low intermediate risk.
I'm no expert in radiation, others will show up soon with better answers to that question. But it does take time, I think as much as a year or two, for PSA to get to nadir. And. During that time, he may even have a few rises, called a "bounce" that should not alarm you. This happens when the cancer cells die off and release PSA into the bloodstream.
With a 3+4, your husband will be fine. Even in the unlikely event that the cancer has spread, there are many treatments available that can keep it in check for many many years. Prostate cNCER IS SLOW GROWING.
