Unanticipated Memories

Facebook frequently adds entries on people's "Timelines" to remind them of something they posted about in years past. This showed up in this morning's Facebook feed:

"Just got home from 18 holes of golf at Petrifying Springs north of Kenosha, WI, with my 3 regular league partners. I sure didn't think I'd be back on the course just three and a half weeks after surgery, but it felt great! Thanks again to everyone who sent good wishes and prayers. They helped more than I can tell you."

The following Spring, I was cleaning out the pockets in my golf bag and found an unused pad that I had taken with me in case I needed it during the round. I do remember that we played 18 holes, but that I was fairly exhausted by the end of the round. Yeah, it felt great being on the course, but the energy level was still fairly low, and my uro chewed me out when he found out what I had done.

All that seems so long ago, it's as if it's from another lifetime. This is one of the few pleasant memories of those weeks in August 2010.

great story. There are good outcomes for many here, and I admit that sometimes I forget how lucky I have been.

Thanks for the reminder about my last 5 years. I am still here and feeling pretty good most of the time. I keep telling myself to not spend another moment being scared and to enjoy everything to the max. It surprises me how much work it is for me to "live it up"

It's always great to hear from you, An, and so glad to hear Paul is continuing to do well. I think of the Aug. 2010 group every time the anniversary rolls around.

They say we all have a doppelganger somewhere. Let's hope both of our PSA's continue to be near zero and that our golf games continually improve. It's also good to know that Aimzee's husband is doing well.

I put "August Surgeries" in the Google search engine (above) and our thread did come up. We were blessed to have found each other for support and information. It seems like so long ago. How wonderful that everyone on that thread is doing (reasonably) well.
