Cancer got both my Brains

Things were going along well enough with the hole where the prostate used to be, and then I became unsteady on my feet. My PCP sent me for a CAT scan and Bingo!, found a golf ball-sized tumor on my thalamus - almost the exact geographic center of my brain. Immediately sent into the local ICU for more scans, a biopsy, a transfer to a major hospital in the Southeast-Michigan area where my diagnosis and treatment plan was confirmed, and now back home to wait for scheduled events. Seems the tumor is made up of astrocytomas clustered in a glioblastoma and unrelated to any prostate cancer. No other symptoms except the unsteadiness - until they did the biopsy- had some slurred speech but have since mostly recovered. As surgery is not an option, the plan is for chemo and radiation. Coincidently, the radiation oncologist chosen was the one who did my prostate bed salvage radiation. I was pleased with that outcome and hope to be pleased with this.

Sorry to hear this, Brother, that is bad news but may your recovery be down right miraculous. I have a friend at church, age 89, and he has beat at least 3 different cancers, not even counting superficial skin cancers. I also have a friend from HS, about age 70 or so, who was just declared cancer free for the 3rd time, 3 totally different cancers. May you also be cancer free in the near future!

I would recommend **stereotactic radiation** directed to the met instead of whole brain radiation since it has lower side effects.This study shows a significant benefit for SBRT.

Yep, I would presume stereotactic radiation will be the mode - just as with my prostate, with the same machine even, aimed higher, with the shutters closed more, programmed by the same radiation oncologist. A new set of tattoos for alignment.
