Nobody--not a PCa forum member or a physician or anyone else--can force anyone into a treatment choice.
So true, Tim
But cognitive linguistics research highlight that about
1/3 of people (in the US) have what's called "strict father morality" (father, or the authority figure, knows best), and so they basically give up their own individual decision-making responsibility and do what their doctor says. And after a few times, doctors who are also businessmen, become good salesmen and can (and do) build on this relationship ("I can cure you").
1/3 have a strong affiliation towards this, but it is reported that most of us have at least a little bit of this tugging at our minds because it's been reinforced so repeatedly throughout our upbringing in schools and often in homes.
I'd like to at least help those 1/3 to encourage them to educate themselves...if they haven't been already rushed into treatment, most will find if and when they learn about
the true nature of prostate cancer that their best choice might not have been their first choice, and for favorable-risk 3+3 and 3+4 men the best choice is to not treat immediately at all.
