UTI passing large clots and blood in urine

Good Morning,
I'm a member but this time, I once again, am writing about my husband. He is 5+ years out from prostate cancer surgery done via CYBER KNIFE. It consists of 5 treatments in a week. He tolerated this well but about 9 pos. after surgery had explosive diarrhea that lasted many months, doctors not finding the cause. One did suggest proctitis. We have overcome that. Right now he is passing much blood and very large clots. I took him to the ER this weekend on advice of his urologist. They found very elevated WBC >183 and RBC >183. No fever or back pain. Ultrasound of bladder showed he could empty it. Was put on Cipro and was sent home. The urine culture came back.....
URINE CULTURE (Final 10/22/17):
MIXED BACTERIAL FLORA ( >= 3 COLONY TYPES), CONSISTENT WITH SKIN
AND/OR GENITAL CONTAMINATION. He has passed blood and clots a couple of times before and we went to the urologist ( who had done a TURP on husband a few years before cancer therapy) said (after examination and tube insertion) that it most probably is a residual result of the radiation. Has anyone else experienced this? The sight of blood is always frightening and it looks so much more in the bowl. My husband is 83 and in relatively good health. Thank you for any advice or comments

He's drinking over 64ounces daily...You are right about the blood ....but it is far more than a few drops....we see the urologist this afternoon...I will keep you posted. Thanks again for your positivity...I sure need it!

We were at the doctor today and he inserted a tube and said the bladder looked good as did the prostate(considering past medical history) He wants to do a kidney scan and is setting one up. On physical examination, he thought my husbands left side was a bit bloated and there was an area tender to the touch. He said it could be an UTI . He said there was one more big clot he could see...he also said when this one comes out, there should be no more. Well it came out, and later at home, more did too! He implied that clots could be coming from kidney. Could he not have seen the other clots ???Of course I am worried for he mentioned kidney stones which could cause infection or tumor. As I think about it, I am wondering if tumors would raise the WBC...this computer is a blessing and a curse!!!!!

I give the same advice as you do...wait for the resuts before you worry...BUT....it's so hard!

Good to hear the bleeding stopped. That's got to be a relief.
