I went to a monthly Board meeting last night—I'm a Board member for a local non-profit community organization. I got there a little early, and two other Board members were there, both women, and of course they asked immediately about
the beard (hadn't seen either in a month)...to which of course I replied with a short conversation about
Movember.
They both said that I look like Kenny Rogers, and then they quickly added that they meant "a younger Kenny Rogers" since his got all grey. I replied that I hope that also meant before he had that hideous plastic surgery failure. They clarified that it was due to the cut of my beard on my neck.
Our organization's Executive Director (who also sports a heavy stubble-length beard, for as long as I've known him) walked in and the conversation went on about
beard grooming. The women, who both said their husbands had never had beards, seemed to be quite enthralled about
the 2-step process of shaving one's neck below the growth line daily, and periodically trimming it back above the growth line...which I hadn't done yet. After 15-days, mine is about
ready, however, for trimming back to maintain that 10-day "heavy stubble" look, which according to studies women find the most attractive. ["Heavy stubble is actually the sexual bomb!" declared a study published in the May 2014 edition of Evolution & Human Behavior, which insists that the "heavy stubble" phase is where male attractiveness peaks.]
I think Kenny Rogers was actually a bit beyond peak, in several ways...
